O'Neill Bros Winter League

After a long cold winter the O'Neill Bros Winter League finally reaches the Semi Finals this weekend.

A beautiful winter morning awaited the remaining 8 teams on Sunday morning (7th March) as they contested the quarter final matches.

Playing in their first Winter league quarter final, the pairing of Colin Starrett & Gareth Kelly managed to edge out the strong combination of Padraig MacLochlainn & Kevin Daly to secure their place in the Semi's and keep the Total Golf challenge on track.

P.J McCarron & Liam Henderson booked their passage in the last 4 due to a concession and Gerry Harkin & Jimmy McFadden joined them with a superb victory over in form Mark Davis & Eunan O'Boyle. The final place in the semi went to the steady pairing of Paul VanDessel & James O'Donnell who emerged victorious over Debonair winners, John & Kyle McCarron.

Meanwhile, the Non-qualifiers were every bit as exciting with some quality golf played by a few of the teams involved. In the first match out, Jamie Friel & Eddie Grant played excellent golf and went through against Charlie Doherty & Sean Bridge as did Sean McLaughlin (Poet) & Cathal Begley who came out on top in their match against Karl & Michael King. Justin MacLochlainn & his uncle, Michael, made the last 4 by defeating Joe Curran & Bosco Reid and Kevin McCrudden & Shaun Murphy made up the quartet edging past Hugh McDaid & Kevin McGeough.
