O'Neill Bros Winter League Final Pairings Known
After 4 months of qualifying and subsequent knockout rounds the O'Neill Bros Winter League will reach a conclusion this weekend. Emerging with victories in their semi-final matches were Malachy and Gary McLaughlin who squeezed past a below par Eugene O'Connell & Colin Barlow and Hugh Duffy & Sean Watson who had to play 2 extra holes against Edward Grant & Jamie Friel to book their passage.
Having already crossed swords with Colin & Eugene in the qualifiers, Malachy & Gary knew of the difficult task which lay in store when they teed it up on Sunday, however, on this occasion the challenge envisaged failed to materialize, and by playing steady golf the McLaughlin's progressed to the final.

Meeting for the first time in the Winter League was the experienced pairing of Hugh & Sean versus the younger duo of Edward & Jamie, and despite a gallant showing and a few tense moments, it was the seasoned campaigners Duffy & Watson who finally edged past their counterparts on the 20th hole.
In the non-qualifiers it was the Current club Captain, Eddie Curran and past Captain, Jimmy McFadden who made up one half of the final with a thrilling victory over the steady Sean Carroll and John Mallon, their match also needing an extra hole to separate them.
The other finalists were the pairing of regular Finalist, Gregory Boyce & Brendan Coyle who went through despite the efforts of Hugh McDaid & Harry Grant.
In the non-qualifiers it was the Current club Captain, Eddie Curran and past Captain, Jimmy McFadden who made up one half of the final with a thrilling victory over the steady Sean Carroll and John Mallon, their match also needing an extra hole to separate them.
